You must have watched the wrong channel. I didn't watch CNN. But my understanding watching MSNBC is that Trump was charged with knowingly falsifying financial records. His lawywer personally paid Stormy $130k directly for HER. but doubled his billing to Trump to account for TAXES. TAXES? Thats because he was going to change the records to "LEGAL FEE"S which would be taxable income. and the doubling would be pay taxes to disguise the payment as INCOME! COhen's tax bracket at the time was 50 percent. That's where the illegality was. Fraudulent deception of accounting records. Not the most major felony but it is a felony and the payment was actually a CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION because all parties said it was about hiding the STORMY case from VOTERS, not to keep from hurting Melania's feelings. Her name was never mentioned to Trump's CFO or his lawyer.
This is why I love watching the trials and hearings, and not taking reporters' third party observations. Watching the whole thing, seeing how questions are framed, and their body language...is much more helpful to my bullshit detector...and thats what I relied on during my career. Reporters get lied to all the time and our job is to separate the grain from the cowshit weeds. Replies:
