This essentially means that it is acceptable to use these pages to seek sponsorship for The Fusiliers Aid Society (which includes Fallen Fusiliers), and The Fusilier Memorial fund only. I joined 1LF when we were the Demonstration Battalion at the School of Infantry Warminster based at Knook Camp. The Camp was a collection of wooden huts around a cookhouse all had seen better days during the war including housing US units before D Day. Our neighbour was Captain Siegfried Sassoon the WW1 poet who was called Mad Jack by his soldiers for his suicidal acts of bravery. He once took on a trench full of 60 Germans by himself and having driven them out sat reading poetry for 2 hours before telling his CO that he had captured the trench.
I read some where that Knook Camp was to be restored? Even asylum would be unhappy with the conditions we endured. Has anyone been stationed there or got any news about the camp? Possibly some one on a course at S of I?
