Snapdragon Mare | 15.2hhs | Dunskin Pintaloosa | Crown of Paradise
VOICE OF THE PEOPLE.
Soft winds tugged and pulled against the large islands of many horses home. Dangerous summer storms were brewing in the distance while one was coming forth, its hot and turbulent blasts setting many a creature unease. The gusts of air had a painted mare standing on the beach, watching the distant high waves with tears tracking down her cheeks and her body trembling from some unknown problem.
Sucking in a strained and wobbly breath, the pale appaloosa mare named Snapdragon let her body just stand against the wind. The long strands of her mane and tail flutter against her back and behind her, slapping against her withers and spine. She felt her tears fall from her fuzzy cheeks, slinging back away from her as the wind drug them away in tiny droplets. Her throat ached as did her chest, the organ inside of it beating to a broken rhythm that had her choked sobs sounding more gutturall than they were meant to be.
Shaking her pretty shaped head with her eyes squeezing closed, Snapdragon did her best to hold int the angry scream until it finally just escaped into the air with her body aching with every syllable that escaped her lungs. She thought she had protected her home, had done well for herself here. She was quiet, did not go out and pick fights, but here she stood. She still did not know how the ending with Nahawi and that bastard went, which had everything coming to a head. She had a daughter and a stallion that held the strongest piece of her heart here. It had her breaking down as she knew if Nahawi lost, she would lose her home and her family. Snapdragon would not reside here if someone took it from her, unable to handle the shame of being uprooted from her place.
Maybe Siren had been wrong? Snapdragon was not strong enough, obviously. She had to call in Nahawi, an ex lagoon stallion to fight for her and she still was not entirely sure if he would win. She had no hope, held no honest faith in any of this. That was why she already had everything set up for if she lost her home. Bubbles would be leaving with her and hopefully Finley would follow. Snapdragon would not force Roux to follow, but maybe the mare would? Snapdragon held no hope for that either, but her heart could not break any further in this moment, no matter where her mind went with everything.
Screaming again into the air, Snapdragon let her tears stain the sand beneath her as she let out all of her anger, frustration, and gut wrenching pain. What had she done to deserve this? What had she done to deserve being targeted for her home?
