i'm a wild boy, ready to destroy Posted on June 12, 2024 at 11:09:42 PM by Salinger
The young stallion had been walking silently, his mind a blur of milling thoughts. He hadn't managed to think about much for long other than the restlessness that plagued him. Salinger hadn't felt at peace ever in his life. Between the constant wandering and lack of explanation for his father's continued absence, there had been nothing solid save for the company of his dam and younger brother.
When Quinn hadn't been around to teach him the harder parts of being a male on these islands, Salinger had sought out the Lagoon. He had thought he'd really learn something from them, but they were covetous and lazy. So, frustrated after several months of his own inaction, Salinger had left to think. The bay overo only intended it to be a temporary reprieve from the brothers. Not that he wagered only of them would notice he was gone.
Raising his head to stare numbly into the cascading falls, Salinger wondered what the hell he was doing with his life. Why couldn't he have just left to follow and stay with Nahawi once he'd learned the stallion had left the Lagoon? The paint just had to wonder if there was something the red dun had to offer or teach him that no one else had so far. Frustration flushed through him again. Why couldn't he ever choose the right thing to do?
The emotion forced its way through him, forcing Salinger to toss his head in an attempt to release the energy it stirred inside him. It was on the left downward swing that white flashed in the corner of his eye. The mass of his head turned quickly toward the sight and was surprised to find a young mare standing alone. Something familiar about her tugged at his brain. It took him a moment, but he remembered her name.
