TefnuT

mare -red dun - 16.1 hands - the demon's child

”Stay here.” Those two words rang in a little girls mind as her broken body lay against the floor of a cave. Her soft blue eyes blinked lazily as her red frame shifted upon the cold stone and slabbed out on its side. Her short mane brushed the ground, little pebbles shifting under and against the strands as her body got comfortable.

Her sire, Lucifer, had been keeping her here in the falls for a long while now. She had healed up for the most part from whatever had injured her, but the little red dun filly had no idea what it was. All she could remember was waking up on a ledge and staring at the vibrant eyes of the big black draft. He had not said a single thing to her in the first few days, but as time swept by and fall came, the little red filly had managed to make him talk. He said his name and that he lived in a dangerous place, but she feared not. He was all she had known, or so she thought.

As hours went by and Tefnut was left alone to her own devices, hunger began to crawl at her stomach. Lucifer had yet to return and take her down to the grass, making her start to feel the hunger pangs. Growing and healing took a lot out of her and soon enough the little filly was up on her four legs and hobbling along the stone path from the cave. Water fell past her from the cascading falls and hid her from view for the most part as her frame vanished into the last bit of tall grass left over by summer.

Lowering her head, Tefnut began to eat the grass where she stood, her ears lazily hanging at the sides of her head as her six month old frame ate to its heart content. She knew she was going to get in trouble later, but the filly was hungry. That was why as the sun began to set and there was still no sign of Lucifer she gave a soft call into the distance. Normally he returned for the night and made sure she had a warm body to sleep beside. This day though, her dad was gone way late and her little mind could not wrap around the reason as to why she was alone.
