i. the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
ii. anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
iii. adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
iv. the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
v. the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors

He smiled, but it was an angry, sad, and bitter smile.

“Wow,” he sighed and managed a breathy chuckle before rolling his eyes. “It’s so good to see everyone here knows what I am going to do, but doesn’t understand why I am doing what I am now.” They’d all made up their minds without him. They’d all said he wouldn’t come back without her.

He would… but even if they were still here… would he be happy to see them? Would they be happy to see him?

“I’m glad I put my trust in the right mares for the beginning of my herd, such a solid foundation we have here. A close family who truly support and care for the well-being of one another.” He spat, and briefly felt bad for how mean he was being. Eira didn’t deserve this and Aura would be horrified to hear that he was speaking like that to them.

But this wasn’t the family he envisioned. This was not the home he wanted. He would not be so much like his father that everything exploded to the surface ten years and three children down the way. If they were not going to trust in him now, believe in what he thought was right…

If they did not trust that the Prairie itself was safe and that was how much he trusted it, his father, Lir, and the guardians…

Well.

Castillon did not want them here.

“Choose what you wish, Eira. If you are here come winter, I will see you then. If you continue to believe the lie you’ve made up in your head over trusting me, then…” He paused and swallowed back against his pounding heart. “Then I wish you well.”
