There was a calmness to the large stallion that Jasper found himself immediately appreciative of. Even the way he seemed to try and make himself seem smaller made Jasper want to smile. He kept himself from doing so beyond the friendly, welcoming grin he was already wearing. It was even harder to keep the grin from deepening as the black and white stallion blushed, flicking his ears outward.
“Well, Scarecrow,” Jasper started, still struggling to fight away how wide he wanted to smile. He was always smiling, much like his father, but there was something different stirring inside him that were inspiring reasons to do so now. Jasper was old enough now and understood his different persuasions to know immediately that he was attracted to the stallion in front of him. But just as he understood himself, he understood his view for romance was in the minority and most stallions would take offense to another stallion attempting to woo them.
Not that Jasper was in any place for that, heart still in a million tender pieces and likely not to come together any time soon.
“You’re in luck,” Jasper said, tilting his white-face inland, “let’s walk.” He had a feeling the larger stallion would feel more comfortable moving through the Prairie as they spoke rather than standing aside and trying to make himself small for Jasper’s sake.
“I’m guessing you’ve heard the Prairie’s reputation?” He asked as they began to move, blue eyes moving to watch the newest potential resident of their home. “Our home is welcome for anyone who is looking for peace and doesn’t bring harm to the Prairie or those who live here. If you want a more active role in the day-to-day, we’re always recruiting guardians, like me, to dedicate themselves to keeping everyone here safe.” Jasper repeated with natural ease, like he was having a conversation instead of repeating some points he knew he had to say. Over the years he had come to love the home he had here in the Prairie, and he hoped others who needed it could find that peace too. “But don’t feel pressured,” he added with another charismatic smile, “you just got here, no need to make that decision so quickly.”
There was only the briefest of pauses before Jasper curiously asked, “What is it that drew you to the Prairie over anywhere else?”
