tanding behind the falls with his head lowered, Lucifer took in a deep breath. The young filly was sound asleep, her little red body just taking the snooze it so needed. He had been struggling to maintain his duties in the Lagoon while also keeping her safe and it was beginning to wear down the black stallion. It had been a long while now that he had the child as seen by her healed nature, but it was also long enough for others to start noticing him being gone more and more if they were to really pay attention to him.
Licking his lips, the black beast was about to fall asleep when his ears flicked towards the opening of his home. Around the crashing water and the call of other animals, the black shire cross could almost hear the sound of hooves. He shouldn't be able to, but something sent him on edge and his eyes flickered open with a narrowed view. He wanted to go out and search, but for the moment he knew better than to leave the child. She was growing strong enough to wake up and follow him now without a single stumble. Both horses were healed finally from their time in the Peak, but they held scars lining their bodies.
Tossing his head, Lucifer waited before finally moving from where he remained hidden behind the falling waters and out into the open. His large hooves slacked upon the stone ground, the heaviness of his size and the want to be heard making each step louder than needed. It showed how grumpy he was to begin with, but as his flaming eyes landed upon a creature far too close to his home, Lucifer felt his ears pin to his head as he glared. A loud blast of air left his lungs before he stopped dead still, staring the other horse down just as his child gave her bleating cry, the tiny red frame that looked nothing like Lucifer scrambling out from behind the falls.
