This was a fresh hell that Raegar had not yet been forced to endure, and he cannot even pretend to be enthused as a Peak matron and another stallion prowled into the conversation he'd picked up with the pretty mare. Raegar had no patience for the Peak and would not pretend to understand their purpose (although when Filumena spoke of her early days, he knew enough to nod along). They were known across the isles for sticking their noses where they didn't belong, as they had in the Badlands time and time again.

The other stallion, however, is unabashedly a threat. One that is multifaceted, given his striking good looks and the disgusting charm that spills out of his mouth the moment he appears. Raegar is wholeheartedly out of his depth between these two. If he makes a single wrong move to hasten the girl home, he will garner the Peak's sights on his back and make his herd a target. But if he stays to let her listen to the chimera, she will surely fall over whatever pretty lies he tells her before he - like Helios, like whoever Nadezdah's stallion had been, like so many others - disappears and leaves her wanting.

He doesn't have the charm to challenge both of them nor does he even have the experience in such an unnatural situation to rely on to come out on top.

What he does have, however, is stubbornness. And while the better part of valor would have most other stallions backing out before they get themselves in too deep, the overo only plants his dark hooves more deeply in the soil and forces himself to stay put.

"Right," Raegar says dryly, thick tail lashing at his hindquarters. "Salem too hot for you these days Marcy?" He taunts, not because he has any personal relationship with the mare that he knows of, but because his father had in the past. And it was known well enough that their relationship wasn't exactly... cordial these days. Perhaps, if he had known of Marcy's connection to Ripple and the threat she posed to Senu's occupation in the Badlands, he might have proceeded more gently.

Well, knowing him, probably not.

His gaze skims across the chimera, begrudgingly thankful that he had taken his side despite the fact that they were now - by default - sworn enemies. However, it is on Invidia that his gaze catches and holds. He had been so caught up in his own emotions regarding the sudden and overwhelming spike in company that he'd forgotten - for a moment - how disorienting it must be as the one who was the subject of the attention. "I imagine that about sums it up," he murmured, offering a lopsided grin. "I live in the red canyons of the Badlands with my family, and I approached because I would like for you to join me."

Plain. To the point. Honest.
