This is the problem when you have 24 cars or less. Everyone is in so heats are hot laps after about lap 3 or 4 laps. Top 4 fall into place. Most of the time the winner is from the top 12. Re-draw becomes the qualifying event. You are right unless you can get 30 plus cars to make qualifying meaningful, the cars starting behind the top 12 after re-draw are at a disadvantage. Unless you have 24 cars starting that are pretty equal.
Solution - uniform set of rules that govern the now 3 organizations. Non- Wing Oswego, ISMA/MSS, and the New England group have different rules and neither organization has enough full-time competitors. Now to be competitive with one car trying to run Oswego rules or ISMA/MSS rules doesn't work. With limited number of supers to begin with. Shows have fewer cars and many not competitive. And some of the cars that show up - and are guaranteed to start pull in after a few laps and save wear and tear. Replies:
