The grullo paint had left the confines of the Lagoon the day prior when the sun was low. Something festered in his gut, pushing him in a northerly direction. He enjoyed the company of one mare yet this season and longed to claim another for his own. To do that, however, required the presence of a new brother recruited by himself. Tribulation hoped it would be an easy task: enticing another bold and eager face to join their ranks. Surely it would go smoother than his attempt at herding that damned mare who'd kicked him last year. Vehemence raked through him, but the paint made to drop it. He wouldn't recruit a brother with tension and hate radiating from every pore.
Tribulation came a stop upon a southern hillock in the Meadow. His silver and black eyes scanned the dotted landscape for someone alone, perhaps eyeing the others as if they wanted to join them. He continued this way for an hour or so before finally laying his eyes on a youngster. The tovero lifted his lip to more fully taste the breeze that might bring the other's scent to him. It was indeed another stallion, a few years younger than himself. Without much pause, the grullo turned his body so that he might casually approach the other.
When the paint came a bit closer, he nickered in a friendly manner toward the other stallion. Tribulation made a note to himself to better check out the other islands; he couldn't tell by scent where the other might hale from. If he was going to be better about recruiting or gathering others in general, that would be a handy skill to have. A proud and mischievous smile came across his lips. He gestured toward the other horses dotting the Meadow with a swing of his head as he finally stopped near the white-socked male and spoke. "Thinking about joining in the conversation, or just watching?"
