GUIDELINES
common sense, really
i. the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
ii. anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
iii. adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
iv. the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
v. the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors
i'm a lover but i'll still fight

castillon of the prairie.
Castillon blew a low, warm breath from his lips at her aching whisper, stirring her dark hair. Unable to help himself he reached and gently laid a kiss to her forehead, resting there for a breath before he pulled himself just a little ways away. He kept himself tucked closer to her, voice firm and unwavering. “I’ll only be able to stay with you for a little while, but if I go with you, together maybe we can find someone who is sane among those heathens,” as much as his father swore the Lagoon had once been a place filled with good men, Castillon thought of Zira and he thought of Garmr and he did not trust it one bit. “They can help look out for you until I can get you back here,” he advised softly.

Castillon did not want to think it would take him long at all to bring Aura home… but what if it did? What if his failure was not isolated to this one moment and he disappointed her again and again? At least this way if he could escort her into enemy territory he could get a closer eye himself and keep a closer eye on her.

“I want my family to believe in the protection of the Prairie and to not only depend on me to keep them safe, not when one of our own must go to the enemies.” Stubbornly he held firm to these ideals, feeling as if for the first time in his life, he was finally seeing the future he wanted to build. “I know they will not be happy,” he offered in a quieter voice, the trouble darkening the already dark brown of the worried eyes that found her, “but I need them to understand… I won’t be a sitting duck here. I won’t let them keep picking on us… and I’m not going to give them the satisfaction of harassing you without me there to teach them a lesson for it.”

Nevermind his current injury, of course. Castillon sighed. “Let me speak with my father and the others tomorrow. I will tell them directly what my plan is, I won’t leave them without answers or a chance to speak to me about their feelings for my decision… then, the day after, we will go to the Lagoon.” He would have preferred to rest longer, but he was not going to delay. The last thing Castillon wanted was Garmr showing up at the Prairie shores to collect his prize.
