She was close to the edge of the sea at the time of the raid. She had not been the first to lay eyes on Twinge's return, but she had been the first line of defense to arrive. Maybe defense wasn't the right word. Grizel was quickly reminded why she would never make a good fighter or even a lead mare. She peeks through the brush and around the trees that hide her large frame. Surely they would find her soon considering her Shire-like stature and it was this thought that causes her chest to tighten. Not only that, but she did not wish to see members of the herd be stolen away. Twinge has been gone and it appears she has just returned. Bacardi would be happy, but only if she was safe.
She had to do something.
Just as she gains the courage to step forward to advance on the intruders, Bacardi arrives. Grizel breaths a sigh of relief, but things are not over. The tightening in her body does not go away as the anxiety rises because now her mate was in trouble too. Ah, but then the large black form of Voyager could be seen in trail of Bacardi. Hopefully the size of Voyager would be enough to scare the two away.
Grizel takes a step back into her hiding place with labored breaths. She has noticed her lungs acting off lately so she assumed there was more pollen in the air this fall. That mixed with the frustrations of another heat gone without a child caused her great frustration. She could not think of that now. The seal brown mare turns from the action and takes a few steps further away. Heavy breaths cause her eyes to close as she focuses her mind on just breathing.
