Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

Alioth had deftly ignored the sniggering snort his comment had wrested from the golden mare. Even when the agitated expression continued to rest on the lines of her face, the young Appaloosa ignored it. He was hopeful that she wanted the company and would eventually accept his presence if not his advances when the anger subsided. His dark head turned slightly, watching a bird take off from the trees beyond the mare before him. Finding no cause for the flight except the bird's will, his gaze returned to the palomino within moments.

"No," came the flat response. A single ear flicked at the seemingly final word of their conversation, which was all that showed of anything beneath the stallion's interior. Alioth was surprised to hear more words pour from her mouth. The question had been unexpected, but no reaction showed on his dark face. Pleasure thrummed in his chest that she asked something deeper of him. Alioth mused for a moment over how to respond. His eyes lingered on her face, now turned in his direction.

"For me," the Appaloosa began, his every word methodical, "it's not about the morality of the Lagoon and the men." Pausing, Alioth turned his gaze from the mare. He mulled over some abstract thing, trying to find a way to convey some of the thoughts in his head. "It's about understanding why it works and why it doesn't. Why certain brothers butt heads and then get on well with others. How and why they pick the mares they pursue." He would have shrugged if possible.

"I just want to understand is all."

Alioth
