You seem to be a very unhappy man but at least you were able to find someone to focus your Depression on. If you'd been promoted to corporate management, the normal route for successful salesmen, I could understand an element of owner elitism, but you have always pretended loyalty to the worker class. And you were never in it. Curious, Jim. The only thing that I could explain it is that you're projecting that you yourself weren't part of the creative class in radio. I don't understand youre loyalty to it. Radio people normally love ther performing aspects of the studio work. Being into the music and entertaining people.
Thats what I liked about it. But the drawback was a lack of stability and when you have a family, that responsibility superceeds the love for the performing arts. Job changes tend to uproot families so it is ideally designed for single people without families.
YOu may find that negative too much for you to tolerate but I'm not sure you experienced that part. Television is much more fun but the instability is a careerkiller.
If you don't like it here, go to one of the big radio FB pages where longtime jocks working at familiar call letters in major markets reminesce. Uniquely, they probably left the business at the top of that game. Radio's slightly like the military with the same choice that needs to be made between family life and career. I've been in both so I get it. I'm not sure you do, Jim. Replies:
