It was rare to find Hiyori without her tiny shadow in tow, but as he trailed after the faceless ghost, he could hear only one set of hooves in the mud. Perhaps she had finally allowed the kid to gain some sort of leash now that autumn had returned, or perhaps I wasn't following her at all. A plethora of new feminine scents had infiltrated the Lagoon as of late and with the season, they had only grown more distracting. Last year, I had barely noticed, but this year they were very, very hard to ignore.

Eventually, I was able to trail close enough to catch the remnants of Hiyori's scent and I could feel the grin curling along my whiskered lips. She wasn't rushing, but she certainly wasn't behaving either. I supposed the latter should make me mad, but I found it hard to be angry when I could instead use it as an excuse to get close to her, to rake my teeth over her pretty coat. I hadn't had a good excuse for a brawl for a few days and I found myself wondering if she would be more or less ferocious without her daughter in tow.

"I'm sure we could have found ways to enjoy ourselves if you'd have listened." I said, a cold grin slicing across my lips. There was something different about her that I could not place, and after staring at her for a long moment, I quit trying to place it.

"You've been so quiet lately, little mouse." I murmur, stalking closer with my neck bowed and tail flicking idly with each step. Flashbacks to the intimacy I had shared with the other mare made me crave Hiyori's touch in a way I hadn't truly considered thus far. I'd thought it, yes, but it hadn't set my blood to bubbling the way it did now. "I was beginning to think you'd given in and decided to behave after our generous deal."

I had, at least, held up my end of the bargain by making it known she was my companion. That wasn't stalwart protection, of course, and I assumed she knew that. My reputation could only go so far among a herd of men eager to please themselves, after all. Tipping my head, dark eyes still fixed on her, I dropped my voice quieter as I halted before her. "Would you like to make another?"
