After having the conversation with Bacardi, Toland decided he would finish his patrol before he told anyone what happened. He was reeling with emotions; anxiety and fear that he would somehow mess up or not be strong enough. Excitement, hopefulness, pride that his father thought him capable of this. At least he wasn’t striking out completely on his own and starting from nothing. He would still have Bacardi here to help him if need be, which was more than most upstarts ever got.
By the time Toland had finished his patrol, the shock had worn off and he was buzzing with energy. He felt as if he could run laps around the entirety of Luthien several times! But the young stallion managed to keep a stoic expression, even if the dancing light in his eyes betrayed him.
Finding Bacardi again wasn’t hard, the stallion hadn’t went far from where they had separated, and had been grazing upon the new shoots of grass along the bases of the trees. “I’m ready to tell everyone.” he said in greeting, as Bacardi lifted his head to look at him. “You’re still certain about this? You still have time to change your mind.” Bacardi offered, but Toland shook his head. “I’m ready.” he assured, and mentally hoped that he was right. That he was ready for this. “Then call them.” Bacardi said.
Turning back towards the heart of the Forest, Toland felt his heart racing once more as he released a beckoning call for everyone.
