Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

there's a million things i haven't done

There is a quiet melancholy to the warm night that Suleiman can't ignore. A part of him might one day miss the life that still exists here even so late in the season, but he does not yearn for it now. His heart is already back on Tinuvel, and it is only his body and his mind stranded here among the mud.

The soft sound of approaching hoof beats makes his ears twitch and his gaze turns toward the golden Boss of the Lagoon. Apprehension rises in his chest, but he offers only a quiet nod as the tall stallion settles and begins to speak. He knew of Garmr mostly because it was hard to live in the Lagoon and not hear of him, but they had not spoken. Suleiman had done his best to keep to himself as much as he could, out of the way and minds of the other men in the hopes that laying low would afford him some measure of safety.

It was reassuring to hear Garmr acknowledge that his term of imprisonment was coming to an end. Suleiman had not interacted with the Lagoon much himself, and thus had only Solomon's recollections of them to go by. He hadn't been certain if they would try to double-cross him or undermine him in some other way. A wry chuckle - dry and quiet - drifts from his mouth at the thought of missing the Lagoon, but he appreciates the attempt at humor.

"I appreciate the effort," he answered, although he wasn't certain how he truly felt about it. Being alone would have come with less risk, but Suleiman wouldn't lie. He was lonely. Going from a herd stallion to a captive in hiding had been a rough transition, especially after he'd lost his father. "But you're right," he answered with a wan smile, "I probably wouldn't pick this place for my next vacation."

Quiet reigns for a long moment in the wake of Garmr's question as Suleiman considers how to respond. Caution dictated that he should be vague in case Garmr had designs on it himself, but the thought of maintaining that level of paranoia in everything was exhausting. "It's beautiful," he finally answered with a soft exhale, dipping his head briefly as his brow furrowed at the recollections. "Cold, mind you, but beautiful. Not just the land... but the character of it." He huffed a soft laugh, aware of how silly he sounded.

"You can't survive alone on Tinuvel. You need others around you, and because of that, it's different than anywhere else." He murmured, finally casting his gaze back to the other stallion. "What draws you to the Lagoon?" Despite everything, there was genuine curiosity in his tone. Suleiman had found very few things he enjoyed about the Lagoon, but he was also realistic. He hadn't exactly looked for any reasons to stay either.
