Time to move on

Do you realize you show many of the insane traits of Trump? No matter the topic, he's stuck in a fixation? You do a great deal of projection and the only way to cure it is to recognize the trait and work on it. But you seem focused on me instead of yourself. It won't ever get better until you fix yourself, bud.

YOu might do better if you'd spend less time in here watching for my posts and more time reading some self help stuff. You seem to know enough about your own head to know what out on the internet to look for.

Remember what Einstein or somebody smart said about doing the same things over and over and expecting a different result! I think whoever, said it was 'Insanity' but I think it's just ignorance and thats much more easily cured.

If you havent noticed, most of what I put in here isn't criticism, its good advice and a lot of it is how to survive in a corporate environment.

ALl Scripps employees have learned what I did years ago, corporations dont have heart, they're just about money for those who run them.

I worked for a time at a Chinese company and while they're very pragmatic, they don't lay off their people to cut expenses to increase profits. Instead, they look for other ways to keep them working and productive. Essentially, they find other ways to keep their people working, keep their plants open. They don't sell off their unproductive plants and people in them. They'll even sacrifice profits for their workers.

Maybe thats one reason why American business was so quick to send their work overseas. Chinese are grateful for the business. They're pretty racist but they do look out for their people.

American corporations don't do that. Broadcasting was better in its earlier days when it was being run by those who founded their companies, but they've all died off now and sold out to investment companies.

Think back to your Wichita days when we were working for the First generation families of broadcasters. Every one of those companies has sold to the same corporations that own the 'properties' in KC. Thats all investors think of their stations and the people in them--'properties.'

You went off on your own, did you notice that too? Radio is way too mature an industry and when the radio-tv combos sold and had to spin off some properties, they kept the TV operations and spun off the radio stations as not being the likely most successful. THey weren't wrong. My last radio job wasn't o abandon radio as much as it was to literally get out of the basement and go upstairs to the TV newsroom. It was still broadcasting, but TV just had the reach and the money to grow. Radio's been on a diet since television killed the radio star.

Then came the next iteration of change...cable and the internet. This is not a good time to start out in broadcasting. Why you defend it so much, I don't know. You actually got out before I did and set up shop on your dining room table.

I left my last broadcasting job because I saw the handwriting on the wall even in TV...I was determined not to pack up the family and move laterally just to keep doing what I was.

There were four employers in KC where I could keep doing what I'd been doing. So I got into a related field, Technology, where there were hundreds of employers.

We didnt' move for decades until we retired; it was a family decision, what was best for them, not just me. When I write in here, I'm not critical, I'm just pragmatic and have offered advice. Of the couple dozen people who were here ten-15 years ago, where are they now? Still in radio? I bet not.

YA know, you're the only one left in here besides me. You must have had your own reasons to work out of your house for the rest of your career...I presume you didn't open an agency or work for a broadcast corporation selling THEIR time for a reason. You couldn't get along or you didn't like what was happpening with media corporations. What was it?

Instead of playing amateur psychiatrist, tell the half dozen younger people in here now why YOU got out of the media!
