Are you a weather guy? Have you seen now much weather ABC/CBS and NBC now offer nightly? Every night, practically lead story at 5:30.
I dont even watch local weather anymore, I just switch to any of the local web pages for the 7 day forcast without all the chit-chat and 'your saturday, 'your sunday weatherschool bullshit.
And I've been looking at radar for 40 years. When I hit animation I know whats coming and how long it takes to get here. That tells me how to dress and whether I need to water the grass this week.
Everyone thinks their occupation is the most important one... weathermen, cops, firemen, utility guys, every one of them things their occupation is indispensable to everyone in the country.
I'm in a small market now, but 60 miles from one that's even bigger and more professional than KC. The only time weather casts are important is when it's kicking up a storm, and that's not very often. Most people just dont' need the dewpoints and barometer readings, and the record highs and lows and some nerd pointing to this area town temperature and that one, all designed just to build ADI viewership. Who cares about the exact forcast temperature high and low of a dozen places?
And weather guys following thunderstorms clear across the TV market until they're gone. I ONLY CARE about whats just southwest of MY LOCATION and when! If its windy, I take down my flag so it doesn't bend my flagpole, that's all.
The rest of it is just filling time between commercials 3 times in a half hour! Nope, I dont waste time staring at local ghetto crimes and what events the local non profits want the news anchors to announce. WHo cares?
