Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

meet me there where it's never hopeless [leif]

This thread is timed for this past spring.

A thick layer of sweat shone in a sheen across the tovero's body. The harsh lines of the mare's black marking were faded somewhere in the darkness she lay sheltered in. The mare had only just rolled -- carefully, oh so carefully -- into an upright position, contractions still ebbing away within her barrel.

Her head twisted further and further to look back upon the little wet thing that had emerged from her body. Its dark head shot upward, tiny nostrils flaring as the foal drank in the humid air. Emerson found her eyes drifting over the tiny body of the child -- her child -- as she caught her breath.

Emerson had never thought about becoming a mother. It wasn't something she had ever really considered with the tumult that had always been her life. There were always responsibilities that came with keeping the family together. There had never been room for a child of her own, no room to give to the stallion whom she'd have to create it with.

Then again, nothing about this last year had been planned, except for her initial departure from the Harbor and the life she'd lived there. Emerson controlled her breathing to exhale deeply without alarming her thrashing babe and rose. As she took in the intricate white markings on the foal, she committed herself to pushing away any thoughts of the two stallions who might have helped create them.

When Emerson's eyes finally took in the vibrant blue and black of her daughter's pelt, it nearly brought her to tears. Her mother, Sapphire Moon, had been colored in such a way. Grief tore through her at the thought of the mare who had died so long ago, who would never lay eyes on the child that resembled her so greatly.

"Saphris," whispered the tovero to the little filly who was already trying to stand. Emerson hesitated for a moment longer to inspect the babe as she found her balance before finally stepping closer to clean her off.
