Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

whatever you do;

make certain your hands are clean ; They aren’t alone for long - Rafe expected nothing less, honestly. What he didn’t expect was Khyber to approach. He’d been one of Raegar’s first children, and unfortunately one that Rafe found particularly annoying. He’d always had an inflated sense of self-importance, and the Lagoon was only good for expanding that sort of attitude. It didn’t help that in his younger years Raegar was a menace and a poor father – honestly, Khyber never had a chance. The Lagoon is a fitting place for him.

Gethin snorts at the greeting and says, “Grandfather? Didn’t realize you’re that old.” Rafe grinds his teeth, resisting the urge to kick his elder brother. Just a few weeks ago he was glad to have found him. He cannot resort to violence so soon. Likely, though, they are both thinking of the parallels - this entire situation is eerily similar to how he killed his own grandfather, to the last night that they had seen one another before Rafe was cast out. Even the warm, sweet scent of the marsh and the decay surrounding them evokes that night. “You’re older,” he hisses at Gethin, icy eyes narrowed in warning. His brother subsides, falling silent and instead watching the exchange before him.

“Marceline is more of a threat than you or your goons ever will be,” Rafe finally points out drily to Khyber. He knows for a fact (even if their youngest child was born well after his so-called murder attempt) that she would relish the opportunity to make his life a living hell if he showed his face anywhere that the Peak could claim him. She’d take far too much delight in having power over him. It isn’t a fate he’s eager to live out.

Rafe cannot go home, cannot face Raegar and Arsinoe, and he has little desire to take up residence somewhere else. So that left the Lagoon, as distasteful as this was. Gethin, new to these lands, cared little. He did think Rafe should go back to the Badlands, but that was an argument he lost soundly. He hadn’t brought it up again.

Idly, he wonders if Khyber has done well for himself here. He’s not had much overlap with the Lagoon - they seemed to focus on less populated herds, and go through slow seasons. Rafe isn’t even sure who the leader here is these days. Could it be his grandson?

“We’ve come to stay, obviously,” Rafe drawls. “Who do I need to speak to? I find it hard to believe even this group would put you in charge.”
