NOTHING COMES FROM NOTHING.
Back when Polar first vanished, Asphara lost something. Then when Tyr stepped down, she lost even more. Watching everything from roaming the islands, the mare had lost a lot more than just who she was, but also what she wanted to be. Asphara wanted something, but no longer had the drive to find it. That was why she had found herself on the crossing isle roaming around like a lost sheep in a field of briars. Her long legs were scratched up and her eyes were dull, but one night she heard a voice she thought was a mere joke until finally it was actually him, the stallion from before that had followed her to Atlantis before he left her alone.
After their coupling Asphara had left herself for a few days. She needed time to get her head on straight and with it come to terms with one thing. She had loved Tyr in her own way, but it was not what he needed. She held no actual love for anyone, not even her two daughters on Atlantis. She cared for them, yes, but they were without her and had been for many seasons. She was all on her own and it drove her back to the Falls, where her gaze landed upon Polar as he pushed through the brush and let her blue gaze latch onto his frame as he spoke to her.
“I had heard of his passing, but I have not been to the Cove itself in a long while. The change of leadership I scented gave me enough knowledge to guess.” Her voice was steady as she stepped closer to him, her pale face tilted to the side as she scanned him. “I have no home Polar. Tyr stepped down and then was taken to the Lagoon. There's a new lead now after his sons and Atlantis is changing in many different ways. Salem also has changed, but I aint sure about any others. Home is a place I have not chosen.” Shaking her head, the chestnut mare let out a sigh. She needed to find a home, but she wouldn’t be able to just be a herd member. She wanted more than that, even if it was something she could never actually grasp as most places were stallions in leading positions.
Allowing the touch, Asphara leaned into him and softly butted her head against his shoulder, her tangled mane shaking with her movements and brushing against her neck. He was soft in his affection, but she was thankful for his gentle ways. “For now, I think we need to grow together before we search for a home. I lost you once and I don’t wish to be in a territory and lose you a second time. We might be starting a family, Polar, but I am not as young as before and I can't keep changing my life and roaming the islands without a purpose.” Maybe, with her words out there, Asphara could grow to be more than a heartbroken and homesick mare. She could be something for him unlike how she was nothing before. She had been a shadow of blood hue and taking up space in the Ridge. Maybe, just maybe, she could do something other than wear her hooves down pacing the unknown.
