The sun warmed the stallion's back even as it slung lower in the late afternoon. The heat it blessed them with was a different sensation than the thrill of desire that scorched its way through the copper male's veins. It simmered as the chuckle thrummed in Nyimara's throat and then spiked as her dark eyes peered at him through pale eyelashes.
The skin on one shoulder twitched at the surprising amount of restraint Helios found himself having to exert in her presence. Between the appreciation he had always had for the silver-haired mare's beauty and the limits to which fall pushed him, his sense of formality and self-control lay a little too close to the edge of a knife which their politics danced upon.
The stallion breathed deeply, his copper barrel expanding and contracting with the action, and then extended his own muzzle to the lady's offered one. He made an effort to ignore her perfume, however half-heartedly. Instead he made to focus on the words dripping from her ashen lips. The last were a compliment, or rather he interpreted them as such. The herd had grown some since her last visit.
The skin around his dark eyes crinkled as the Arabian smiled crookedly at her. "Thank you, truly. We have endured much in recent years to get this far." He continued on, his tone hinting at unspoken questions. "Though I suspect you have also gone through some trials of your own."
