GUIDELINES
common sense, really
i. the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
ii. anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
iii. adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
iv. the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
v. the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors

Willa had awoken with the birds in the early morning of the Prairie. As their early songs filled the air, so did her gently humming. She roused herself from her sleeping spot with a stretch. Since she was young, Willa had found the most flowery and soft places to bed down each night. (It was not so easy when winter came.) Petals clung to her hair as she stood, surviving even a shake to loosen the dirt from her fur. She blinked her pale blue eyes as she stared out across the prairie. Normally it was dotted with all manner of flowers in varying colors, but now they were sparse and the ones that did survive were bitten by the frost. Quietly Willa began to move through the throng of sleeping horses that made up her family, dropping her muzzle to nudge affectionately at the mane of her sister, her mother, and her father as she passed each one of them.

She felt much better as she moved around, the sun warm on her back despite the frigid chill in the air. She wondered if it would snow this year, and when it might. She loved her flowers and sunshine, but snowfall was beautiful. She could see Tinuvel from the Prairie, the edge of the Bay and part of the Inlet visible from the coast of Luthien. She'd never left Luthien, and she never planned to. While some of her sisters and brothers had grand aspirations of leaving home and finding new families, Willa had no interest. Everything she had ever needed was right here.

She sighed gently, stopping to lower her head to sniff a particularly lovely frost-dusted pink flower. It smelled sweet, despite the winter chill, and she brushed her muzzle across it's cold petals. She marveled at it's resilience before continuing her walk through the prairie grass.
