Hi. I've visited this site for many years and wish to say G'day. A few of you know me. As part of a 1979 work experience program from R.A.A.F. school Penang I went to T.S.F. I Remember Peter Luck and Peter? Sapwell lowering me by winch from an Iraquoi helicopter onto a small bridge on the perimeter of Butterworth airfield, doing a circuit, picking me back up by winch, and then dunking me in creek beside bridge. Main reason for this post is I couldn't help but notice Goonie A65 124 in the background of '24 reunion pics. Its the 3rd Dac Foggy flew after 2 days at ARDU.
I have gone through Ira's log book to find out the location and history of all the many and varied aircraft he flew for the R.A.F., Short Brothers Naval Ferry Flight [Belfast] and of course the R.A.A.F.
Here's a short summary.
9 out of the 18 chipmunks he learnt to fly on at 3 B.F.T.S R.A.F are still flying, 3 in Australia.
60 plus types of aircraft [see Foggy's page on this site under Associate] are preserved in museums around the planet, mainly in England. 15 are in private collections. The Sea Vixen cockpit used as a mobile display at Queensland Air Museum, Caloundra is from XJ-607, one of Dads. Meteor F8 Temorah museum, NSW is the 3rd F8 he flew at 66sqn, ex VZ-467. Cheers and good health. Something to read for Peter Johnson CSM. G'day Bill's Replies:
