No one is coming to save you,
Get up.
The chimera listened quietly as Octavius began to speak of what he knew, clearly cowed by this mysterious black stallion. He spoke as though the threat were imminent, the danger already at their borders, as if this Lucifer would lash out at them at any moment. Asmodeus' brow furrowed as he studied the small signs Octavius was giving: the trembling knees, the way he spoke more now than ever before, the words he chose, and the tone he delivered them in.
For a stallion that had - according to his own account - never met Lucifer, he certainly seemed afraid of him.
"He is not the first foal-killer the islands have seen," Asmo said quietly, "nor will he likely be the last." That alone was not enough to make Asmodeus fear him. Even Nyimara had lost a child in years past to such a killer, so it was no great surprise another was in their midst. There was a reason he only courted mares of the highest caliber, and while it was largely because he found mares that could hand him his rear end without breaking a sweat unbearably attractive, it was also because they often made fierce mothers. It was Asmodeus' main way of making sure his children had the best of everything.
"Why do you think he would turn here? I have no history with him, and by your own account neither have you." If the conversation had been centered around Lucifer crossing the border into the Desert, that might have been a different conversation. As it was, the fact that he was stinking up Helios' borders actually afforded Asmodeus a possible bit of leverage in his race for the crown rather than making him worry.
