dont lose your fire;

Toland was not blind, nor was he stupid. He had seen the way Voyager began to deteriorate after Cromer had died. So when the large black stallion had passed, Toland was sad, but not shocked. He wanted to comfort Roamer, but he had heard her pathetic cry close to the shoreline and by time he had gotten there to stop her, she was already gone. Why? They had a strong alliance from the Prairie. Zevulun and his sons always had children; as he assumed that’s why Roamer had left. Instead, he was faced with the unknown if she or her little brother would ever be seen again.

Although it was not an entire season that had went by, it was more than enough for Toland to feel sick with his own grief. With her ailing legs, the stallion was sure that Roamer had drown. And with no idea where to go, the child had drown with her. He hadn’t said anything to Amar, not wanting her to be suffocated with the same feeling he was. But he was sure that she had her own worries, and she hadn’t come to him either.

When Roamer’s call sounded from the beach, Toland almost thought it was his imagination. Lifting his head, he hesitated, before trotting towards it. As he reached the red mare, he stopped before her, a mixture of feelings flooding him. He had been so sad she had been gone, but he also felt a rush of anger once more as he stood looking at her. Tilting his ears back, Toland didn’t speak since the words he would say wouldn’t be nice. But it was abundantly clear in his glare.
