Rules

• The Vulcan Peak is where homeless mares come to live as a sisterhood. Stallions may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Warriors keep mainly to fighting, Thinkers keep mainly to raiding, and Politicians may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Codebreaker or Prime Minister for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Prime Minister maintains order within the Peak and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Peak works on the Rules page.

I want your heart on a platter block

Oh, you want battle?
I'll give you war.

Do I have any business being in the Peak? No, not really. And yet here I was, slinking along the edges of the mountains as if the cold lofty tops would reveal the mare I sought or the children of mine she'd carried. The thought of possibly kidnapping one of the little rugrats to bait her back into proximity with me was a growing ambition, but there was one minor, tiny, inescapable problem...

I had no idea what either of them looked like.

So you can imagine my surprise when the stench of one of my own brothers suddenly tainted the air and I turned toward it, eyes narrowed and ears pinned with every intention of defending myself and my lurking. However, the creature that appeared was not one of my well-adjusted brothers, but the runaway ex-boss himself. Curious, I fell in line some distance behind him, suspicious of his intent but willing to allow himself the grace to make the mistake before I meted out the punishment.

His demeanor changed so abruptly that it took me a second to realize what was going on, and when I did, a fissure of guilt crawled through my chest. I should let him go, probably. Or I would, maybe, if I had a heart in this cold chest of mine.

"Let's not make a sad day even worse, old man." I utter gruffly, stalking closer with my ears pinned. "I'll make you a deal-" which seemed to be a phrase I said all too often these days. "Agree to come back quietly with me and I'll pretend that this little escape attempt didn't happen. Deal?"
