The copper stallion shifted, smile still visible, and made a vague, noncommittal gesture with his head when Nahawi asked how he was. Things had been so jumbled here; finding a word to capture it all was hard. He appraised the younger dun as the Shore lead spoke. Sandstorms were no easy feat for someone so young, especially if they had never faced one previously. Helios knew all too well from his life in various deserts that not all survived their first sandstorm; it was a commendable feat.
"Sandstorms are not so easily managed by those who do not live within a desert. It is quite the achievement, Nataanii." Helios nodded and shifted his weight, musing to himself for a moment before going on. "As far as a position goes," stated the flaxen, first addressing Nahawi and then Nataanii, "it might be best for you to start as a guard. Keep an eye on the herd, the borders. Run patrols."
It would help the lad get used to navigating the shifting sands and adapt to merciless sun, he thought. Helios had done much the same when first arriving on Salem. Antares had made him a sub-lead first, and then later left the land to the chestnut male. After a subtle gesture encouraging Caesarion to come forward -- who bobbed his head in a mute greeting to the opposite pair-- Helios waited for the dun father-son duo to make their comments before speaking further.
