Rules

• The Vulcan Peak is where homeless mares come to live as a sisterhood. Stallions may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Warriors keep mainly to fighting, Thinkers keep mainly to raiding, and Politicians may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Codebreaker or Prime Minister for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Prime Minister maintains order within the Peak and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Peak works on the Rules page.

Zion

Zion had heard the stories, just as any foal did, of the Peak mares and their fierce warriors. How they defended the good and fought the evil. It always seemed like such a fairy tale; something to tell Drakon and him to fill their imaginations before falling asleep at night. Now, as Zion stood at the foot of the mountain and the heavy perfume of mare wafted down the well worn path, it didn’t seem like such a fairy tale after all.

Although it probably wasn’t the smartest choice Zion had ever made, he was never a coward. He began the trek up the mountain, following the many hoof prints laid out before him. Ears forward, green eyes bright with intrigue, he wasn’t sure what he would find up above among the rock and wind. The probability of his death never occurred to him, even though the chances grew every step he took higher.

Fine. Fine. Her voice drifted down to him first, and Zion came to a stop. He nearly held his breath, wondering what sort of creature would appear. Surely it was more than the average horse that he saw in the Commons if they lived up here and held such respect in Silka’s voice when she told the stories? Yet, it wasn’t a unicorn or some mighty pegasus that appeared. Although she was pretty, she was just another horse.

Disappointment curled its fist in Zion’s chest, and he felt angry at himself for fooling himself as he had. There were no such thing, and this Peak was no different than any other territory. Other than it was run by a bunch of women. “You’re awfully pretty to be in a bland place like this.” He called up to the draft mare, offering her a playful smile, though he doubted she would find his existence very amusing. “Surely you’ve got more fitting places to be?”
