a mask tells us more than a face

There was a jealous glint in the eye of the boy who'd been the jewel of his mother's eye, but now she had not one but two others to croon over. Sickening. His upper lip threatens to curl over blunt teeth that wanted nothing more than to snip at the bodies of his two newest siblings, but his mother had a foul temper and her wary eye kept him in check for the most part while keeping his distance. He was partially grown, still not at the height he should be but he was getting there and according to Sicily big enough to leave her side.

He didn't want to. She was his first and now the little life suckers that had almost been her undoing were taking all of her attention away from him. A long leg takes a step forward, a minor step was all it is in the direction of the foals but to his overprotective mother still fueled by her hormones it was a step too many and her teeth are soon felt in the flesh of his cheek for he'd been too naive to pull back in time to avoid it. He didn't think she'd actually do it, but then again he should have known. His mother was a savage to the bone.

A squeal is released while ripping his head away, locks of black and white dancing in his vision while he whips around and away, a partial buck of flying hooves sent towards his mother who reacts in kind; an audible sound that echoes through the silence that follows. A mother bird kicking her baby bird from her nest at long last. There's a fierceness in the way they stare the other down, his mother daring him to try it again, while he returns the look as one of betrayal for replacing him.

It's a stalemate really, but knowing that the tiny tussle was surely heard by his father gave lorenzo more reason to bite his cheek and turn the opposite way, ears slanting back while he huffs his frustration out. Yeah sure kids were a good thing for the herd, but he thought his mother was done when he came alone. How wrong he'd been. Long strides are taken to pull him as far as he could make it before Solomon could figure out which direction he'd gone, knowing he'd have his own peace with the boy for even going against Sicily. He heaves another heavy sigh, pushing through the last of the forest and out onto the sands of the beach. Here it was quiet and probably the last place Solomon would look or maybe the first as this was a good direction to go if you wanted to leave.

Wel-, "fuck".

The word had not been spoken by him, even though he too might have thought the same thing and was about to voice it himself. Eyes of brown and blue scour the pale sands until they fall on the champagne girl further ahead of him. Another sibling perhaps, he wonders, the color of his father heavily present on her and she was younger, but no dam in sight. Odd indeed.

"Took the word right out of my mouth sister," Lorenzo slid up along her right, tilting his face to look down at her in mild amusement. He hated others but the cursing had his instant interest. He was also a hundred percent certain this filly was of relation, while not fully blooded to Lorenzo himself they did share a father after all. Hard not to take two steps and find a solomon child here in the cove.

"Where is your mama?", he is as polite as he's gonna be, a concerned older brother role he could manage well when they didn't have any ties to his own dam. It doesn't strike him that perhaps she'd been abandoned or her mother might even be dead, but Lorenzo lacked that empathy to feel sympathetic enough to watch his words.
