Hello everyone!
First and foremost, I want to thank all of you for your patience. This year has been a crazy one for me personally and some of the new things I was hoping to implement got pushed back in favor of dealing with more immediate things. That being said, Pirate and I have come to a few conclusions about our last discussion regarding twins dibs and away protection.
TWINS DIBS We posed the possibility of adjusting how the twin perk is used. With up to two sets of twins allowed per season, we noticed that both sets tended to be grabbed immediately by players that had a perk. As not all members can participate in the contests, this felt unbalanced. Our takeaway from the discussion responses was that many players agreed, but were not necessarily interested in the proposed options for adding additional sets of twins.
TAKEAWAY: Beginning now, only one set of twins may be claimed per foaling season with the twins perk in a first come, first served fashion.
AWAY PROTECTION There has been some frustration with how the away protection works. However, this has been a complicated subject as we know that sometimes life outside of TLI can make it hard to participate and we don't want to punish players. This is a very nuanced issue and there was no real consensus reached in the discussion. The most popular answer was to add more territories, however, we did not feel that would change the core problem.
TAKEAWAYS: The largest takeaway from this discussion is that we are going to open the Ruins for four small herds to exist. These herds will have a few extra restrictions, but will hopefully allow for more opportunities for players.
The second takeaway is that we, as Global Moderators, are going to be more proactive about reaching out to players who have repeatedly gone away. We are not implementing any new rules regarding going away at this time, but we want to encourage players who are not currently at a stage in life where they can actively play to reconsider how they play.
Moving forward, we are giving everyone a clean slate, but we hope that with the addition of the Ruin's herds we will see some of the problems with this issue ease. If it continues to be a problem, we will monitor and reconsider.
RUINS HERDS The natural disaster that claimed the island of Cimmaron seems to be giving it back again. More space has been exposed, creating enough resources to allow the habitation of up to four small herds. Owing to the limited resources and nature of the islands that make up the ruins, these herds will be subject to a few additional limitations.
Each of the herds may have no more than 4 members, including the leader. Children do not count toward this cap until maturity.
The herds on this island are ineligible for government and may not appoint co-leads or sub-leads.
Characters may not be force-claimed in the Ruins.
To claim a Ruins herd slot, a would-be leader should post a claim attempt specifying which of the four locations they would like to claim, following all standard rules on land claiming. Updates should be posted on the updates board.
BATTLE RUBRIC Last but certainly not least, we have moved the roleplay battle rubric to its own page for the convenience of moderators and players alike. It is now linked at the top of the battle board. Feel free to refer to it when you are considering what moderators are generically looking for in roleplay battles.
