I can feel myself moving
closer to a dream thats waiting for me
There were no thoughts behind her decision to rush towards the painted stallion. Maybe it was desperation that drove her to the first horse she has seen despite the nagging feeling that she had to watch her back. This land was foreign and no one here knew anything about her. They could easily hurt her or all have bad intentions. In yet, she still clings to this stallion like her life depends on it.
Tears stain her brown cheeks as loud sobs fill the air as she touches the stallion's own muzzle with her own. His voice is just soothing enough to quiet her, but not for long. The tears still overflowed from her eyes at an uncontrollable rate. She stepped closer with full intention to just bury herself into him like a second skin when he says to come on.
Curiously, she looks up at him as he explains moving back to the trees would provide them better cover. She nods with an uncontrollable jerk of her shoulders with each heavy sniffle. The young mare follows his gentle guiding until they were under the trees. She let it all go then. Loudly crying, snotting, the whole nine yards. This stallion had to be a safe space. If he wasn't why would he do all this for a mare like her? She buries her face into his chest.
After a while her sobs lessoned until only the sniffles remained. "T-thank you," she manages to get out. How embarrassing she must look to this total stranger.
