He often watches the moonlight glimmer on the waves. Living on an island provides ample opportunity for such thing. His family sleeps in a grove nearby, but Arroyo has wandered to the edge of a cliff overlooking the gentle rolling of the sea. The water is calm this night, but the jagged rocks tell stories of the ocean's power. Unlike the Harbor he has spent so much time in, this place is subject to the brunt of nature's whims. But there is a rugged beauty here in the way the rocks and cliffside are laid bare and unafraid - steadfast in their waiting.
Down below a dark figure catches Arroyo's eye. He watches for a moment, curious to see if the stranger has chosen this moonlit night to leave the territory. He and his family have not been here long, and the dust is hardly settled. But, to his surprise, the stranger seems intent only on enjoying the waves.
He thinks of joining them, but apprehension briefly tightens his throat. He may be the newest keeper of the Ridge, but he's under no illusion that everyone wants his company. He scowls, perplexed at himself. Since when does he feel shy?
With a shake of his head, he turns away from the cliff's edge and makes his way toward a steep trail that winds its way to the beach. Eventually, he finds himself at shore level, following the same path she had taken... yes, she.
Arroyo's ear flicks in contemplation. Was she one of Lucifer's former numbers?
The trees give way to openess, and Arroyo's heart thrums.
She is looking at him. He'd not been particularly quiet in his approach, but he is still surprised.
"Hello," he offers, a boyish grin on his lips. "Nice night out." He steps into the moonlight. "Mind if I join you?" Replies: There have been no replies.
