Annubis has learned over the last few weeks that the red-eyed stallion is a far different breed than himself, to say the least. Maybe next time he will put forth more thought and effort into choosing his boon companions… better yet, he would put forth more thought because if he could go back….
Golden eyes narrow at Lucifer’s parting words. Anger boils beneath his silver flesh as he watches the obsidian beast retreat back into the dense undergrowth of the jungle shadows. Paper-thin nostrils flare as the silver beast levels a controlled breath, if only to keep a cautious threat from his own voice. Lucifer sure knew how to make friends.
’Charming….’ Khyber’s comment draws his gaze away from the gently swaying ferns that marked the trail Lucifer had taken in his hurried exit and back to the painted stallion. A boyish smirk tugs at his whiskered lips as he scoffs and shakes his head in agreement. ”Agreed.” he huffs, pausing a moment longer to shake the anger from his skin. Sad really, he felt more at ease with this stranger bachelor than his own second. A mischievous smile slides into place as he cocks his head to Khyber. ”Musta been one hell of a party in the lagoon the day he left huh?” he chuckles, giving his head a shake. What else could he do except throw up his proverbial hands and shrug. Not like he was willing to spend any amount of time with the black beast in hopes of unraveling his twisted psyche nor was he sure he ever really wanted to. Lucifer did not exactly give off the soft and cuddly feels ya know?
Khyber turns his attention to the golden mare, offering a reassurance that draws the boyish smile wider across his lips and a deep chuckle rumbling in his depths. ”Not sure that’s much of a reassuring comparison…” he snarks, with a single laugh, his golden eyes glittering in amusement. Yeah, he liked this Khyber. Perhaps not ALL the lagoon stallions were as bad as the old wolf made them out to be.
Khyber turns his words back to the silver wolf, ’..take care of her…’ the sound of a concerned without trying to be obvious about it, father looking out for a charge. The gleam of amusement fades from his multifaceted eyes now as Annubis drops his muzzle slightly in reassurance. Even if the painted brute had not asked, Lucifer’s threatening, departing remarks had left enough of an unpleasant flavor in his mouth that Annubis would be keeping an even more careful watch over his small herd, especially Promise. He doubts that Hymn felt comfortable enough yet to let the little filly out of her sight… but just in case. He makes a mental note to pull the gentle mare aside later for a hushed caution.
A playful smirk again crosses his ash dusted features as Annubis snorts, ”Naw, I plan to toss her to the sharks the moment you’re out of sight…” He teases, glancing over at Izumi with a wink before turning his gaze back to Khyber. ”You are welcome to come and check when you like. I’m sure if the Lagoon has stallions like Lucifer there… you might need to experience some real company.” he tosses, his thick tail flicking idly against his heels.
