Nightmares are dreams too

Sometimes, Garmr needed the silence that surrounded solitude. He had left the Lagoon, making sure none of the brothers had spotted him, and did not head off to one of the other islands or even the Peak to cause chaos. With everything that had been happening, the large stallion found himself a bit tired. There was no true sleep in the swamp, nor anywhere else for the Boss, but he hoped to find a quiet little spot in the meadow to eat and rest where no one wanted anything from him. That he could let his mind empty and simply be.

As the large stallion reached the open bit of grassland, he lowered his head to the tall stalks and began to graze. His tail idly swayed against his hind legs, and although he felt relaxed, he was never not wary. His ears still twitched to every sound that surrounded him, half expected some ridiculous Peak mare to come charging across to attack him. Or some crazed herd stallion to demand justice for something the lagoon had done.

Instead, it was the soft steps of a stranger not even walking towards him that caused Garmr to raise his head. The tan and white mare was alone, which wasn’t too uncommon here where it was safe, but her expression was puzzling. “A mare on a mission.” He said, expecting her to ignore him or in the very least, hiss something angry at him. “Should I be concerned?” Garmr hardly garnered the time of day from any mare he didn’t force into his company, and he didn’t expect it now either. But just as she hoped, so did he, that one day someone might be different.
