GUIDELINES
common sense, really
i. the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
ii. anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
iii. adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
iv. the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
v. the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors
whispers in the tall grass

Lir felt something in him warm to Dreamer when she chose to finish the patrol with him. He wouldn't have ever thought anything less of her had she chosen to find the rest of the now-smaller herd and rest. He knew just how taxing a journey between the islands could be. Still, he liked that she was willing to accompany him in this new land of hers and learn about it.

The overo stallion smiled broadly now, watching as she looked back at him again. It was good to start something new. The young male had had his doubts when Zevulun had handed him control of the Prairie. It was such a big responsibility and an even larger mantle to bear. Zevulun had always been such a constant on Luthien; Lir was afraid he'd screw it all up, or worse lose the land altogether.

"It's a beautiful place, Dreamer." He wanted to laugh at himself. Surely, every stallion thought that of their own homes, but here? Lir took it to heart. The orchard, the tributaries, and heatherdowns, even his own private space among the weeping cherry trees -- it had all so gradually become a part of who he was, even though Lir had not been born here. "We'll finish this stretch along the border, and then we'll head up the shoreline. I'll show you where the little rivers meet the sea from there." With a renewed hope for the future, Lir started forward down his intended path.
