Clad in silver and black, she was the only soul wandering the lonely expanse, her hooves muffled by the tender grass. She paused, heart hammering against her ribs, a prickling sensation that she was being watched haunting every step.

Perfectly still, the feathered woman could have been mistaken for a statue, only the fluttering of her dark mane in the wind betraying her presence. From a young age, she'd learned caution, especially regarding approaching males. The memory of her mother's captivity under Darius, the horrors she'd witnessed, clawed at her in the darkness. A shiver ran down her spine as she fought to suppress those brutal memories.

A sudden movement snapped her attention back. Her ears vanished into the tangled thicket of her mane, and she sensed their presence. Their scent drifted to her nostrils, and the sound of their hooves crunching through the brittle grass reached her ears. Her lips peeled back in a snarl, a grimace twisting her brow.
