For the tinkling of raindrops can't even silence my sobs.
Time had blown by, leaving everything all wrong. Days turned into weeks and weeks into months. It had almost been a full year now, one where she lived in the meadow in a daze with a colt now at her side. Blinking exhausted and void like blue eyes, a white faced chestnut mare shifted her frame from where it had been standing until the height of a cedar tree to look out over the vast expanse of land she found herself roaming in. She should be content to live here, but the longer she stayed the easier her mind warped everything. He wasn't coming back, she knew that now. She had been a fool, trusting Polar’s words. It left her with a broken heart and a child she did not wish to care for. Looking at the boy in her care, Asphara just sighed with her head hanging. She had raised two foals to fruition and now she had a third… who knew if he would make it just like most of her others.
Shaking her head with knotted strands of mane slapping against her neck, the chestnut thoroughbred finally made up her mind. “Come.” She muttered to her child, her muscles flexing as she moved her tall and lean frame from the meadow. It was time to leave, to find something better. Her mind was made up as she crawled into the commons, her head hung low with a young colt at her hip. She would take him with her for now, but once he was old enough she would let him make his own choice. Tossing her head faintly even with it hanging low, the chestnut mare closed her eyes as a tear fell. She was abandoned… but why did it have to hurt so damn much?
Shifting her weight, Asphara just stood at the edge of the commons. Her blue eyes closed as she let her son nurse. There was no telling who would come for the wandering mare, but she was tired of wandering. Being from home to home for the past five years, she was done. It was time to settle down… even if that meant just accepting fate and being something she never wanted to be without Polar or even Tyr. Maybe this time around… Asphara wouldn't be one who wanted to escape the confines of her home.
