It is only when Arroyo tosses his head in a playful manner that Ignacio finally releases the breath he did not realize he was holding. The tension fades away from his back and neck, and he feels utterly foolish for ever thinking Arroyo could hate him or be disappointed in him. That was not who he was. Ignacio matches the playful rear with one of his own before closing the distance between them with a few strides. "I'm so glad you're back," he says, a grin across his speckled lips. Atlantis had not been the same without him and Ignacio would be the first to admit it. "You are well, I hope?" His brow furrows, his eye pinching slightly. He doesn't care about whatever made his friend leave, whatever drove him from their home was his own business. Ignacio's only worry was for Arroyo himself.
"I-," he starts, the corners of his lips tugging down slightly. "I tried to keep things from changing," he admits, his ears going out to the side, making him look more drowned rat than stallion. "The Harbor changed leadership twice, I tried to keep everyone safe, I did. I'm not a leader, that much is obvious," he says, somewhat sheepishly. "I lost track of everyone eventually, I'm sorry." He is older (though not much wiser) now than when Arroyo first met him, and though he was not at risk of breaking down into tears, it's clear on the sabino's face he is disappointed in himself.
"You're back though," he says, a hopeful smile gracing his face. "What is the Ridge like? Do you think the herd will like it?" There is no doubt in Ignacio's mind that everyone would return, and he would be stronger this time. Better at this job.. |
