The compassion shown by the painted stallion seemed to ease some of the tightness in the girl's chest and she nodded mutely in acceptance of his condolences. She wanted her father back, even as she was growing to acknowledge that it would not be long before it would be her turn to go out into the world and find her own future. There weren't many potential suitors on Tinuvel, if only because her father was prolific, and Warsaw's influence widespread.

He spoke then of Parvati, and the gray's ears perked forward, although she did not know the mare's name well. She'd heard of her, in the sort of way you hear about anyone important, but had never met anyone who claimed to know her well. Corvair found it interesting to hear that she was doubly related to her, but wasn't sure what to make of that. It was one thing to know that family trees on the isles were complicated, and another thing entirely to see it in person. Her tail brushed across her hocks but she did not probe further, only fell quiet to listen to the rest of what Nicodemus had to say.

He mentioned going to speak to his mother and she perked up, forcibly wiping away the sadness that had consumed her a moment ago. She would always be sad about her father's absence, but she would not always have the opportunity to speak to a relative she had never met. "I have time if you do," she said brightly, a tentative smile returning to her lips. "If it's not too much of a bother. There isn't really much to do around home right now anyway."

She took a step forward, indicating she was ready to go without intruding on his space. "I can only imagine what stories she knows," Corvair said wistfully, humming softly. "My mom said great grandpa Warsaw used to be king of the whole island. Can you imagine?"
