Hello everyone!
It's time to flex your creativity muscles and have an impact on the things that happen on site! This contest is all about coming up with ideas for the random events that happen monthly around the site. These events can help your characters grow, meet other characters, and even earn experience so they're a great way to participate in the site!
What we are looking for is the following:
A "thing" that happens. It could be a weather event, a wildlife event, some health crisis, or maybe even something else!
Then, tell us why this "thing" is an event. Is it dangerous for character's health? Maybe it's just awe-inspiring? Maybe it will have long-lasting effects on the land? Describe why it's worth a character reacting to it!
Lastly, give us an idea of where this event is likely to happen. We want to know which territory (or perhaps even island) this event you are imagining it on!
Once you have your list of ideas, go ahead and send them to a Global Moderator through email (lostislands.staff@gmail.com) or via message on Discord. The top three players will be selected from the players who submit the most valid random event ideas, with the final fourth prize being given out via a raffle drawn from all of the remaining participants.
Any time your event is used, you will be credited!
To qualify as a valid entry:
Each event must be unique from the other events you've submitted
Entries must include all three criteria above
Entries do not have to be submitted in the random event format moderators use on the boards. However, players will receive a bonus 1/4 point for each correctly formatted entry. See format below:
To all visitors and residents of [PLACE]: [Describe the event in 3-10 sentences.] [If this event is dangerous, include why and who it is most dangerous for].
EXAMPLE: To all residents and visitors of the Shore: rainy season has arrived, and it's hitting hard and fast. The Shore can expect strong winds, potential flash flooding, violent tides, and possibly even thunder and lightning. Characters are advised to stick to sheltered areas of high ground, and to avoid fast-flowing streams, strong tides, or flooded areas, which could be especially dangerous for the very young, old, or sick/weak. The high humidity and constant rain may also cause a skin infection called rain rot. Keep an eye on the beaches, though -- you might be lucky to find some sea glass caused by lightning strikes!
