Cholena
Season upon season had passed, and Cholena felt no closer to finding her sister than she had been before. Even her parents and birth home were lost to her now. When she had returned to the Shore, she’d found a new herd and lead had moved in. Where had everyone gone? Tears and fear had filled the bay roan’s eyes, and she had nearly braved asking the new lead if she could stay. Maybe some of her family would eventually return to her? She had little idea that the stallion she could not find the strength to ask, was actually family too. Her Uncle; though mother had hardly ever talking about family enough for her to know.
Taking a deep breath, Cholena let it out on a wobbly sigh as she looked out across the Commons. It was nothing like when she had been here before. The fog had gone, and she could see clearly across the grassland. She didn’t see either stallion that had approached her that day either. At the time, she had thought it a miracle that she had managed to keep her freedom. Now, she wondered, had it been a curse? She was lost and alone, with no purpose and no home. Maybe it would have been better to let fate decide for her?
Decidedly, Cholena left the safety of the border and walked out into the open. She knew she was tossing her life to fate, but it was better than being the way she was the rest of her life.
