Listening for foot falls, Rutger stood still with his head tilted to the side. His bright green eyes searched the surrounding greenery before they landed upon the light frame of his bulky father. A faint smile lined his lips, but he let it fall away so that the sombre mood was not entirely ruined. His ears flicked forward at the sentence that he was given and a nod took over his head. “Good.” His one word reply could be taken many ways, but he was not about to overflow the well that was already brimming in Tyr’s life. It could very well already be overflowing, but Rutger did not know that entirely.
“I am thinking for now dad, that we stay.” It took a minute for the words to leave his lips, but finally the greying draft cross nodded his head. “This place… it's the safest right now.” With him having done what he had, Rutger could very well have a bounty on his head with the sender being Khyber if not Garmr. It ate at him, making everything he had done so far fall away into nothing. He was so close, he had been intending to run for a leading position with Garmr and Khyber, and now here he was. Staring at the pale frame of Tyr though, Rutger knew this had been the right choice.
Moving closer, he reached out with his muzzle to offer a bump to his dads shoulder. “We can do it.” He whispered, his deep voice taking on a soft note as he looked up at the stallion that had helped create him. It might be a long shot, but the grin that finally lined his lips again spoke of the headstrong ways he knew better than the ones on his back he had given Snapdragon so many years ago. “Father son against the world.” It was how he saw it, but maybe his sire did not. Not really caring though, Rutger looked back to the falls with his ears perked. This place was gorgeous and if they were smart, maybe this could be where they lived their life until Tyr was better.
