Hawa stares at him, eyes narrowed, refusing to back down. And apparently, refusing to move from the little ball she had curled herself into at the base of a tree. It was no rock-faced canyon but she could feel the tree's roots against her back. She did not like being out in the open, it felt exposed. Despite the disadvantage she finds herself at, Hawa snorts at him again, determined to run him off. She wouldn't go back there. Not without Raegar. And certainly not with the thief.
I am sorry, he says and Hawa's white hot rage grows taller, her frown growing deeper. How can I help you? he askes, and maybe he means it. Maybe he genuinely wanted to offer a solution that would soothe the ache in her heart and in her soul. "Help...me?" she asks, the words spat out as if they were bitter. She strikes out suddenly with a leg and pulls herself to her feet, stomping gladly into his personal space. She would march up as close as he'd let her get, and if he backed away, she would follow.
"Give it back," Hawa says with a swish of her pale tail. "It was mine first." It wasn't hers in the way it had been Raegar's of course. But it had grown on her with every moment she had spent. The Badlands were her home. She slams one of her tiny little hooves into the ground with a defiant snort, it may have been an attempt at being intimidating. Today was the first day Hawa had ever raised her voice. It was the first day Hawa had ever been mean, and she wasn't particularly good at it. And even though she wore a face so full of anger, the tears of grief still rolled down her cheeks.
"It doesn't belong to you," she says, more to herself than to the thief.
