Ridge

Darkness was a good cloak to those that already bore the darkness of night on their skin. For those of white with spots, not so much. That was the thought that went through Enigma’s mind as he stared after the spotted mare as she vanished under the darkness of night. His long tail twitched, his head tilting to the side before his lips peeled back to show his blunted teeth in a cheshire like smile. This would be fun, he could taste it upon his tongue as he moved forward, giving her just enough of a head start that he could not be heard as he entered the water behind her.


Kicking his legs on the swim, the draft moved through the ocean and to Atlantis. It did not take long for him to land, but it was even less time for him to pinpoint the one that had run from the Lagoon. His head tilted slowly, the angle seeming to be done on purpose as he watched her run off to hide. This would be fun, oh so fun. His lips flicked out from inbetween his lips, wetting their already damp strands even more as he pulled the salty water into his mouth from the fur along his muzzle. Humming a tune as he swallowed the ocean water, Enigma felt the first quiver run down his spine as the prey before him did a lousy job of hiding.


Moving forward as the sun began to rise and coat the land in a gorgeous orange, the stallion let out a haunting hum. His arrival was no longer silent and he made it certain as he followed the hoof prints she left in the dirt until he could see her hiding behind a ridge. Creaking his lips apart, the black and white draft smiled with blue eyes dancing. “Lost little flower. I believe you should come back with me.” With those words, the black stallion tilted his head to the side again, looking at her like she was an anomaly. “We can do this the easy way sweetheart, or we can do this my way.”
