Paralyzed, she stood as still as stone. Only the gentle rhythm of her breathing betrayed her life. The cool evening air, a stark contrast to the day's lingering heat, caressed her mahogany skin. She sensed his presence an instant before his monstrous voice shattered the silence of the night, dredging up unwanted memories. Yet, she didn't tremble or shrink back. Instead, in one swift, fluid movement, she whirled to face the Torero Lagoon stallion. Her ears flattened against her neck, and her lips curled back in a snarl, exposing her teeth.
"You!" she roared, her voice echoing his. Her tail whipped against her flanks as her dark eyes narrowed. But she wasn't alone for long. Another mare materialized beside her, striding confidently to her side and scolding the stallion for daring to approach. He had indeed been searching out defenseless mares, attempting to drag them back to his wretched home.
"I think that's exactly what he intended," Roskva chimed in, a sidelong glance at the mare before fixing her gaze back on the Lagoon stallion. Roskva relished the demoralizing words the mare spat at him. "His place." She nodded sharply, a momentary flash of wanting to sink her teeth into his tovero hide crossing her mind, only to be dismissed.
I would hate to have the taste of the Lagoon in my mouth," she said, a smirk playing on her dark lips.
"What would it even taste like? Pond water? Filth? Stinking men?"
