A lot of kitchen table attorneys out there and on this site. Where is Local 2 with an official statement? Not a "call your rep if someone comes to your firehouse" statement. Rather, we pay dues and part of those dues go towards attorney fees. Why has Local 2's attorney not put out a simple "fact sheet":
Here is what can and cannot be searched
Here is what to do if they want to look in your personal vehicle
Here is what to say or not say if contraband is found in your firehouse
Etc.
Why do these types of incidents always end up with FFs with zero legal experience speculating about what is legal and opining about what they would do if it were them? This is an attorney's job and we have one on retainer - get him going. Replies:
