Annubis knew that he had no real business searching the main island in hopes of finding a couple of colts to pass off as his nephews, but that didn't stop the sterling beast from at least trying.
The recent influx of intruders in Paradise as of late has left a sour taste in his mouth, one that he would not dare to impose upon Hymn or Promise in any way. It was his turn to take up the shield of worry and let mother and daughter continue to build their relationship in innocence. So, fearing that his grim mood might somehow transfer to the pair, Annubis slid silently into the low tide waters. It is an easy swim to the main island, and the silver wolf is barely winded when finally his hooves touch down on the malleable sands beneath the surf. Multifaceted eyes of golden hues scan the island that stretches before him, taking advantage of the long walk up the beach to appreciate the change in seasons as it begins to descend upon the islands. Unlike this island, Atlantis has no real change of seasons. Yeah sure there are trees that feel the subtle shift in weather and fall into a sense of dormancy, but nothing remotely close to the bright reds and yellows of brittle leaves that hang limply from the deciduous trees here. A single stiff wind is all it takes to send them skittering to the ground, disappearing amid the numerous others that blanket the trails and meadows. Serene.
The purpose for his visit is forgotten now as the silver dragga meanders down the leaf-strewn path, pausing here and there to let the skeletal branches of low-hanging trees scratch at the drying salt patches still clinging to his spine. Pheasants rustle in the thick blanket of leaves, their brown and white bodies near insivable amid the myriad of colors. Sunshine beckons to him ahead, drawing him away from the dappled shadows of the treeline and into the open meadow beyond. Here and there, horses gather in various shades and colors. Raven-tipped sonars flex atop the beast’s skull as a flutter of feathers draws his attention.
Where it not for the disturbance, Annubis might have just missed the mare of shadow and light. Despite the chatter and milling creatures around her, the girl seems almost lost in a world of her own… buried beneath thoughts and memories? It is intriguing to say the least and Annubis is never one to stand back and watch when something curious catches his eye.
Dark lashes blink over golden eyes as the charcoal dusted stallion wades through the yellowing grasses, his chisled profile cocked ever so slightly as a suave smile fits into place. Amusement tugs at the corners of his lips as he lets his gaze wander to the feather that flutters slowly to the grass at her feet. ”Quite the nature’s touch you have…” he murmured, coming to a smooth halt just before. ”You should keep it. A token of luck.”
